1 Identifying Currency (Page 115)
Observation Activity
Riya is counting coins (₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10) and Sahil is counting notes (₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100). Help children look at the numbers written on the coins and notes to identify their value.
2 Rahim Kaka - The Toy Seller (Page 116)
A. A ball costs ₹20. How can they pay?
Sahil gives 1 note of ₹20 for the ball.
Riya gives 4 coins of ₹5 for the ball. (5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20)
They can also give 2 notes of ₹10 for the ball. (10 + 10 = 20)
B. Name the toys you can buy for ₹10.
Answer: Look at the toy shop picture in the book and write down any toy that has a ₹10 price tag (e.g., a small doll, a top, etc.).
C. Name the toys you can buy for ₹20.
Answer: You can buy the Ball (which costs ₹20), or any other toys in the picture marked as ₹20.
D. If the cost of a car is ₹14 and Riya has ₹10 with her, how much more money does she need to buy the car?
Cost of car = ₹14
Money Riya has = ₹10
Answer: She needs ₹4 more. (14 - 10 = 4)
E. Riya and Sahil together have ₹30. Write the name of the toys which they can buy.
Answer: They can buy toys whose prices add up to ₹30 or less. For example, they can buy a Ball (₹20) and a toy for ₹10 (Total = ₹30). Or a Car (₹14) and toys worth ₹16.
3 Money Combinations (Pages 117-118)
Page 117: Find the total amount and tick the correct option.
Add the values of the coins and notes shown in the book, then tick the box with the correct total.
- If you see a ₹10 note and a ₹1 coin: 10 + 1 = 11
- If you see a ₹10 note and a ₹5 coin and ₹1 coin: 10 + 5 + 1 = 16
- If you see a ₹10 note, a ₹5 coin, and a ₹2 coin: 10 + 5 + 2 = 17
Page 118: Fill or draw the amount in different combinations.
Ways to make ₹5:
- One ₹5 coin
- Two ₹2 coins + One ₹1 coin (2 + 2 + 1 = 5)
- Five ₹1 coins (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5)
Ways to make ₹10:
- One ₹10 note or coin
- Two ₹5 coins (5 + 5 = 10)
- Five ₹2 coins (2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10)
Ways to make ₹20:
- One ₹20 note
- Two ₹10 notes/coins (10 + 10 = 20)
- One ₹10 note + Two ₹5 coins (10 + 5 + 5 = 20)

Answer: 10 + 5 = ₹15.
