Look at how children are sitting on the rides. They are sitting in equal groups (pairs of 2, groups of 3). We add the same number again and again to find the total.
A. The Merry-Go-Round (Horse Swing)
There are 4 horses. 2 children are sitting on each horse.
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8
The total children are 8.
4 times 2 of us can sit on the horse swing altogether.
B. The Toy Train
There are 3 bogies. 3 children are sitting in each bogie.
3 + 3 + 3 = 9
